FIX: Permalinks & Statpress

Statpress Permalink FixMany WordPress users may be familiar with the StatPress plugin created by Daniele Lippi. It basically allows you to have a Google Analytics-esque section within your WordPress admin to see all of the traffic coming into your blog. Undoubtedly a great plugin idea! Unfortunately the plugin developer has provided little after creation support and hasn’t continued work on the plugin leaving several bugs and incompatibilities in it.

One such bug is when you decide to migrate your permalinks from the defauly ?p=1234 format to a more SEO friendly structure such as /category/post-name/

After changing your permalinks you check over the main site and everything seems to work just fine and you’re pleased with the way the new ‘friendly’ permalinks look. That is until….you click on one of the links created by the StatPress Top Posts Widget. No pretty permalinks, just the old standard post id links….which now won’t even function properly!

Hours of Google searching reveal nothing. What do you do? Leave it as is?

Of course not! Just download our modified statpress.php file and overwrite your current one which is usually found in a subfolder of your plugins directory. After installing, refresh your site and check out those pretty permalinks on the sidebars! Pretty nifty eh?
